Katsina Police Clamp Down on Sexual Violence, Arrest 49 Suspected Rapists
The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its campaign against sexual violence, recording significant successes in February with the arrest of 49 suspected rapists.
At a press conference on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.
The arrests were part of a wider law enforcement effort that led to the apprehension of 144 suspects for various crimes, including armed robbery, culpable homicide, and kidnapping.

Notably, the Command’s operations resulted in the rescue of 105 kidnapped victims and the neutralization of four armed bandits. Security operatives also recovered four locally-made guns, 13 pump-action cartridges, five motorcycles, and 13 rustled animals.
Commending police officers for their dedication, DSP Aliyu assured the public that justice would be served in all sexual violence cases. He urged residents to report such crimes promptly, emphasizing that perpetrators will face the full force of the law.
The Command also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Katsina State Government under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, and the media for their continuous support in the fight against crime.
Reaffirming its commitment to a crime-free Katsina, the Police pledged to strengthen collaborations with community leaders and stakeholders to eradicate sexual violence and other criminal activities in the state.
