IGP Inaugurates New Force Management Team, Restates Agenda for Nigeria Police Force

In a significant move to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has inaugurated a newly restructured Force Management Team (FMT).

A statement by Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the team, comprising six newly appointed Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) and one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), is tasked with enhancing operational efficiency and addressing the country’s evolving security challenges.

The IGP, during the inauguration ceremony, reiterated his vision for a professionally competent, service-driven, and people-friendly Police Force. He emphasized the need for the FMT to align the Force’s operations with the Federal Government’s agenda, focusing on combating contemporary crime and ensuring public safety.

Following their recent decoration, the newly appointed DIGs have been assigned to critical departments within the NPF.

The assignments include: DIG Sadiq Idris Abubakar, mni, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID); DIG Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo, fdc, Force Intelligence Department (FID); DIG Williams Adebowale, fdc, Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi, mni, Department of Operations (DOPs).

The IGP highlighted the importance of equipping the Force with modern technologies and resources to enhance its investigative capabilities. He directed the Department of Research and Planning (R&P) to collaborate closely with the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and the ICT Department to update the Force’s criminal database. This initiative aims to aid investigations and improve policing strategies.

Egbetokun also emphasized the need for continuous training and specialization within the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and other investigative units. He stressed the importance of upholding professionalism, decency, and respect for human rights while ensuring justice is served.

Commitment to Public Safety

The IGP expressed confidence in the newly appointed officers, urging them to contribute significantly to the Force’s overall effectiveness. He reaffirmed the NPF’s commitment to strategic redeployments aimed at maximizing the potential of its personnel.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to its mission of ensuring the safety and security of all citizens,” the IGP stated. “These postings and the establishment of the new Force Management Team are pivotal steps toward achieving this objective.”

The inauguration of the FMT marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to reposition the Nigeria Police Force as a more efficient, innovative, and citizen-focused institution. The team’s work is expected to foster collaboration, enhance operational effectiveness, and contribute to the overall safety and security of the nation.
