2025 National Spokespersons’ Awards: A Guide for Proper Nominations of Candidates
Dear Professional Colleague,
As we approach the nomination deadline, I’m writing to provide valuable insights to enhance your chances of success.
Last year, many applications were rejected because they lacked supporting documentation to back up their entries. To prevent this year, I’m writing this note, on behalf of the Marketing and Planning Committee of the National Spokespersons Awards, to guide you in submitting your nominations.
Please note that these awards are open to all communications professionals. Don’t let the nomenclature – spokesperson – fool you. It encompasses a wide range of roles, including Heads of Public Affairs, Directors of Communications, Public Relations Managers, and more. Anyone who issues and signs statements on behalf of their organization is eligible.
To engage the private sector, we sent emails to members of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) to nominate deserving members of their clients. That said, we look forward to more nominations from that sector.
Every section of the Nomination Form is important. However, pay close attention to the following sections to ensure your nomination stands out:
Read Also:
1. *Campaign Objectives:* Every campaign usually has about two objectives, at least. It is important to clearly articulate it in your entry.
2. *Reason for nominations:* Like a lawyer would plead his case before a judge, state why your nomination is deserving of recognition. Don’t leave the section blank.
3. *Impact and effectiveness:* State the measurable impact of your campaign and whether the objectives were achieved.
4. *Evidence:* It goes without saying that this is one of the most important sections in the form. In my analogy of a lawyer before a judge, you must support your claims with concrete evidence. Adding quantifiable metrics is an added advantage for your nomination.
As I wrap, let me iterate that it is important to complete all sections of the nomination form thoroughly and support it with evidence. You may submit nominations for multiple categories to increase your chances of winning.
The National Spokespersons Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of communications practitioners across Nigeria, spanning both public and private sectors.
We encourage you to submit your nominations before the deadline.
I wish you good luck.
