In Taraba, Troops Raze Terrorists’ Enclaves, Arrest Gunrunners in Multiple Operations
The Nigerian Army has achieved significant successes in its ongoing efforts to rid Taraba State of banditry and other criminal elements.

Army Public Relations of the brigade said, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, in collaboration with troops of Sector 2 Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), conducted a decisive offensive on Achalle, a border community between Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State and Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.¹
During the clearance operation on March 22, 2025, troops made contact with bandits and successfully dislodged them, recovering one motorcycle. They then advanced to another major bandit stronghold, where they encountered resistance but forced the bandits to abandon the camp due to overwhelming firepower.

The troops recovered another motorcycle and an international passport belonging to Muhammadu Dahiru, suspected to be linked to the criminal network. The entire camp was subsequently destroyed and set ablaze.
In a related development, troops raided the residence of two notorious gunrunners, Irimiya Aboki and Tanko Adamu (aka Arewa Mafia), in Mararraba Donga, Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State. Although the suspects evaded arrest, a thorough search of their residence led to the recovery of four pistols, one pump-action rifle, and six cartridges.
Additionally, troops apprehended a suspected member of a high-profile gunrunning syndicate in Donga Local Government Area, Alhaji Mansur Mohammad, who was in possession of 1.2 million Naira intended for the illegal procurement of arms.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their commitment and professionalism. “We will continue the aggressive operations until banditry and other criminal activities are decisively curbed,” he assured.
General Uwa urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
