EID-EL-FITR: FCT Command Deploys 4,000 NSCDC  Personnel to Enhance Security

In preparation for the upcoming Eid-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has deployed 4,000 personnel across Abuja to ensure public safety and protect critical national assets.

The FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, PhD, directed the deployment to safeguard lives, property, and key infrastructure before, during, and after the festivities. Officers have been strategically assigned to vulnerable locations, including prayer grounds, markets, shopping malls, amusement parks, motor parks, government buildings, and areas housing diplomatic offices.

Specialized units such as the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, Operation Adkasu, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) unit, and Counter-Terrorism teams are all involved in the operation. Additionally, undercover operatives are conducting covert surveillance to prevent emergencies and unforeseen threats.

Dr. Odumosu has instructed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure full security coverage across all Area Councils, emphasizing that lapses will not be tolerated. He urged officers to maintain professionalism, collaborate with other security agencies, and strictly adhere to rules of engagement while avoiding harassment and excessive force.

Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies. The Commandant reassured the public of a safe and peaceful celebration while warning criminals to steer clear of critical infrastructure, as NSCDC personnel are actively monitoring the city.

He also extended his best wishes to the Muslim community for a joyous and safe Eid-Fitr celebration while praying for national peace and progress.
