Military Chief Condemns Killing of Hunters in Edo, Vows Justice for Victims
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has strongly condemned the recent killing of hunters in Edo State, describing the incident as unfortunate and avoidable. The attack occurred on March 28, 2025, while the victims were in transit.
In a statement released on March 29, General Musa expressed condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the families of those who lost their lives. He emphasized the need for proper coordination with security agencies to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.

The CDS urged Nigerians to refrain from taking the law into their hands, stressing that security matters should always be handled by the police, military, and other relevant agencies. He assured the public that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) would collaborate with the police and other security bodies to track down the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.
Furthermore, General Musa called on all local hunters and vigilante groups to register with the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the AFN to regulate the possession of firearms. He advised vigilante groups to always seek police intervention when necessary and appealed for public support to enable security agencies to carry out their constitutional duties effectively.
The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining national security.
