Security Forces Foil Bandits’ Attack in Sokoto as Lagos Police Rescue Kidnap Victims, Nab Suspects

Security forces have successfully repelled an attack by approximately 90 armed bandits on Tozai village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, PRNigeria learnt.

The assailants, who according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, arrived on motorcycles, were engaged in a fierce gun battle by a joint military-police team, forcing them to retreat.

However, during the exchange of fire, 35-year-old Sule Ummaru was tragically struck by a stray bullet while attempting to flee. He was rushed to General Hospital Isa but later succumbed to his injuries. Security operatives have since intensified patrols in the area to prevent further incursions.

Meanwhile, in Lagos State, police rescued four kidnapped victims and arrested their captors in a daring operation at Oke Aro, a border community between Lagos and Ogun states.

The breakthrough came after a victim, Okorie Henry, tricked his abductors into believing he needed to withdraw ransom money before escaping and alerting the Iju Police Division.

As a result, a tactical team stormed the kidnappers’ hideout, freeing Otoh Chisom (20), Okeke Kwufrochukwu (26), Uchenna Obeji (26), and 12-year-old Minachi Udochukwu. Four suspects—Chibike Iheijika (23), Stanley Iheijika (22), Obiora Oyedibe (26), and Emmanuel Onedibe (25)—were arrested as investigations continue to dismantle the criminal network.
