Nigeria to Host Africa Chiefs of Defence Summit, Inaugurate Committee
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has inaugurated a committee to organize the maiden edition of the Africa Chiefs of Defence Summit 2025.
The summit, scheduled to take place in Nigeria aimed to strengthen cooperation, enhance defence ties, and solidify Nigeria’s leadership in military diplomacy across the continent.
Gen. Musa charged the committee to work out modalities for the maiden edition of the summit slated for June, in Abuja.
The CDS urged the committee to approach the task with diligence, ensuring meticulous planning and execution.
“We must ensure that every detail is meticulously planned and executed in line with the best standards. This summit has to be a grand and remarkable event, one befitting of Nigeria’s status as a continental giant,” the CDS stated.
The summit is expected to bring together military leaders from across Africa, showcasing Nigeria’s excellence, strength, and organizational prowess.
The CDS emphasized the importance of collective effort, effective communication, and proactive problem-solving in addressing challenges that may arise.

He expressed full confidence in the ability of the committee to exceed expectations. The African Business Roundtable (ABR) has committed to supporting the summit, ensuring an event of international standard.
The CDS said the committee’s efforts would lay the foundation for a summit meant to strengthen cooperation, enhance defence ties and Nigeria’s leadership in military diplomacy across the continent.
“I urge you to approach this task with diligence, ensuring that every detail is meticulously planned and executed in line with the best standards.
“This summit has to be a grand and remarkable event, one befitting of Nigeria’s status as a continental giant.
“It will bring together military leaders from across Africa and we must ensure it reflects our nation’s excellence, strength and organizational prowess.
“You must think innovatively, embrace creativity and incorporate fresh ideas that will make this event not just successful but truly unforgettable,” he said.
The Chairman of the committee, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Akinjob (rtd), appreciated the CDS for his confidence in their abilities to deliver on the task.
Akinjobi said the summit was another brilliant idea from the table of the defence chief, saying it was about time the African defence chiefs begin to speak to themselves.
He pledge the committee’s commitment to do their utmost best to make the summit an outstanding outing.
