Troops Repel Militia Attacks in Plateau as Boko Haram Kills Police Inspector in Borno
Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) successfully repelled militia attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA), Plateau State, under Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A on April 2, 2025, PRNigeria reports.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, the targeted communities included Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti.
During the encounter, security forces engaged the assailants, forcing them to abandon an AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles. Bloodstains along their escape route indicated possible casualties among the attackers.
A follow-up clearance operation in Hurti community on April 3 led to another clash, where troops overpowered the militias in a mountainous area. The troops recovered a locally fabricated pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four motorcycles.

Meanwhile, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gashish raided criminal hideouts in Barkin Ladi LGA, seizing a fabricated revolver rifle, one round of 7.62mm ammunition, and ₦89,800 in cash. In Wase LGA, troops neutralized a bandit along Kampani Zurak Road, confiscating an AK-47 magazine and a motorcycle.
In a separate development, suspected Boko Haram insurgents ambushed security personnel at the Police Mobile Force Training College (PMFTC) Camp Limankara, Gwoza, Borno State, on April 3, 2025. The attack, which occurred around 6:00 a.m., targeted officers from the Mopol Training School Gwoza and various Mobile Police Force units on foot patrol.
Inspector Andrawus Musa, attached to 6 PMF Maiduguri, sustained fatal injuries after being shot by the assailants, who also seized his AK-47 rifle. He was rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) but was pronounced dead on arrival. His remains have been deposited for an autopsy.
In another tragic incident, a 21-year-old man, Bara Adamu, was accidentally shot and killed during a joint security operation in Girei LGA, Adamawa State, on April 3.
The operation, involving the Police, Military, DSS, and NSCDC, targeted criminal hideouts when a security operative’s firearm discharged unexpectedly. The victim was rushed to Specialist Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
