FG remains committed to addressing Plateau attacks – NSA Ribadu assures

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has assured that the Federal Government is actively addressing the recent security breach in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, where several communities were attacked by suspected militias.

This was made known on Sunday, April 6, 2025, during the NSA’s operational visit to the Headquarters of Operation SAFE HAVEN in Plateau State. The visit followed a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, mandating immediate federal intervention to restore peace and stability in the affected communities.

According to a press statement issued by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, the NSA praised the swift response of security agencies in containing the violence and preventing its escalation.

Ribadu emphasized the need for communal harmony and urged residents of Plateau to shun violence and embrace peaceful coexistence. He also called on the media to carry out their duties responsibly by exercising due diligence in reporting sensitive security matters.

“The Federal Government is committed to ensuring that all individuals arrested in connection with these attacks are prosecuted accordingly,” Ribadu stated, adding that current improvements in security coordination will be sustained to achieve more operational successes across the country.

During his visit, the NSA received a security briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, who detailed the current state of security within the Joint Operations Area.

The visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace in Plateau and other affected regions through coordinated military and intelligence efforts.
