In Zamfara, Bandits Abduct 5 Women, Set Homes Ablaze as Military Launches Manhunt

Armed bandits struck Rakyabu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on the evening of Saturday, April 5, 2025, abducting five women and setting several houses on fire in a renewed wave of rural violence, PRNigeria learnt.

The attack, which occurred around 6:30 p.m., threw the community into chaos as the assailants shot indiscriminately to scare residents, according to intelligence sources familiar with the incident.

One of the kidnapped victims has been identified as Rakiya Adamu, alongside four other unnamed women, who were forcefully taken by the gunmen to an unknown destination.

“The attack was sudden. They came on motorcycles, shooting sporadically and torching houses. People fled in all directions,” a local source recounted.

However, Zagazola reported thattrroops of Operation FANSAN YANMA were swiftly deployed to the area in response to the attack, but the bandits had already fled the scene before their arrival.

Security operatives have since launched a manhunt and intensified surveillance in the area, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the abducted women.

Zamfara State continues to battle persistent security threats from armed bandit groups, despite ongoing military operations aimed at restoring peace in affected rural communities.
