In Katsina, Irate Youth Launch Reprisal Attack as Police Rescue Abducted Victims

The Katsina State security architecture came under intense test on Monday following a reprisal attack in Sandamu Local Government Area by irate youth and a separate successful rescue of kidnap victims in Malumfashi LGA, PRNigeria gathered.

It was learned that irate youths from Katsayal village launched a violent reprisal attack on the neighbouring Takude village around 11:00 a.m., setting several houses ablaze. The motive for the attack remains unclear, but intelligence sources confirmed that the violence quickly escalated before security forces from Dauda swiftly intervened to quell the unrest and restore order.

Calm has since returned to the affected communities, with security patrols intensified to prevent further escalation. An official investigation into the root cause of the reprisal is currently ongoing.

In a bid to foster reconciliation and douse tension, the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Farouk Umar Farouk, visited Takude and addressed the aggrieved communities. The traditional ruler urged all parties to embrace peace, dialogue, and coexistence.

In a separate development, the Katsina State Police Command rescued two kidnapped victims after a gun duel with armed bandits in Malumfashi LGA. The victims, identified as Hafsat Amadu and Musa Sani, were abducted from Gidan Filoti and Gidan Mairabo villages.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer of Malumfashi led a joint security team to the Burdugau area, a known bandits’ hideout. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, compelling the criminals to flee with gunshot wounds while abandoning the captives.

Both victims were rescued unhurt and have since reunited with their families.
