IGP Orders Tactical Police Deployment to Curb Plateau Attacks, Dispatches DIG to Lead Operations
In a decisive response to the ongoing violence in Plateau State, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of advanced police tactical assets to affected communities.
This move comes after a series of brutal attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) and its environs, which began on March 28, 2025, and have left dozens dead and many others injured.
To lead the critical intervention, the IGP has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, to proceed to Plateau State. DIG Kwazhi arrived in the state on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, and paid a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
During the meeting, he conveyed the IGP’s condolences to the victims’ families and the entire people of Plateau State, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to restoring peace and justice.

The deployment includes additional units of highly trained tactical personnel, drones for aerial surveillance, Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), helicopters, mobile police units, and specialized squads from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS). These resources are expected to bolster security operations in Bokkos and neighboring areas where attacks have persisted.
Similarly, the IGP has directed that a multi-faceted approach be adopted to tackle the crisis—focusing not only on quelling the current violence but also preventing future occurrences through intelligence gathering and community engagement.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized the NPF’s readiness to work closely with the Plateau State Government, local communities, and other security agencies to address the root causes of the conflict and restore long-term stability.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with security operatives by providing credible information that could aid investigations and peacekeeping efforts. The police assured the public of their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
