AGAIN, Troops Ambush Bandits, Neutralize Kingpin, Others, Recover 7 Motorcycles in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have recorded a series of successful operations across Katsina State, culminating in the neutralization of a notorious bandits’ kingpin known as “Malam” and several of his gang members, PRNigeria reports

This development is coming as the troops also recovered seven motorcycles, and yet again foiled another kidnapping attempt.

According to Zagazola, on April 10, 2025, a joint ambush involving troops, police operatives, members of the Community Watch Corps, and vigilante groups was launched along the Dutsen Wori bandits’ route at about 4:15 a.m.

The ambush targeted suspected bandits riding motorcycles through the area. Upon interception, a fierce gun battle erupted. Although some of the criminals escaped with gunshot wounds, the troops recovered seven motorcycles used by the fleeing suspects.

In a related development, troops neutralized five suspected bandits, including the dreaded kingpin “Malam,” during a coordinated offensive along the Kandamba-Faskari Road. Intelligence sources confirmed that Malam had been a major threat in the Sabuwa, Dandume, Funtua, and Faskari Local Government Areas, where his gang orchestrated kidnappings, cattle rustling, and violent attacks on local communities.

Following the encounter, fleeing terrorists were seen hastily burying their dead. A search operation later uncovered the shallow grave containing their bodies.

Meanwhile, in the early hours of April 9, troops foiled a banditry and kidnapping attempt in Kafin Soli, a village in Kauyen Danko, Kurfi LGA. Acting on a distress call around 1:00 a.m., troops mobilized swiftly, repelling the attackers and forcing them to flee.

Security sources disclosed that mop-up operations are ongoing in all affected areas to ensure the complete dislodgement of remaining criminal elements.
