Police Commence Training for 10,000 Newly Recruited Officers Nationwide
The Nigeria Police Force is set to begin training for 10,000 newly recruited constables across the country on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in what authorities have described as a major step toward strengthening national security and professional policing.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said the training program represents a bold step toward professionalizing the Force and aligning with global best practices in policing.
The training, which will take place simultaneously in designated police colleges and training schools nationwide, is part of a broader police reform agenda aimed at equipping the new officers with modern policing skills, ethics, and values to serve and protect the Nigerian public effectively.

In a pre-training orientation held on Friday, April 11, for Commandants and Directing Staff of the Police Training Institutions, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, represented virtually by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Frank Mba, charged the leadership of the training colleges to deliver a rigorous and ethical training program.
He urged the trainers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and align with the ongoing police reform efforts, which emphasize discipline, accountability, and public trust.
“The quality of officers we send out into the field will be a reflection of the integrity and dedication you display during this training,” the IGP said.
“We must instill in them not just the knowledge of law enforcement, but the values of service, respect for human rights, and community partnership.”
The IGP also reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ensuring a conducive learning environment for the new recruits, including adequate feeding, accommodation, and welfare support throughout the training period.
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering support and commitment to rebuilding the Nigeria Police Force.
He described the enlistment and training of 10,000 new recruits as a strategic investment in enhancing public safety and security across the federation.
