Anambra Security Forces Launch ‘Operation Udo Ga Chi’ to Tackle Kidnapping, Crimes
A new joint security initiative codenamed ‘Operation Udo Ga Chi’ (Peace Will Reign) has been launched to combat the rising threat of kidnapping and violent crimes in Anambra State.
The operation was unveiled following a high-level security meeting held at the office of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on April 11, 2025.
The meeting brought together service commanders from across the security architecture, including the Army’s 302 Artillery Regiment, Naval Outpost, Department of State Security (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Anambra State Vigilante Group.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the security chiefs unanimously agreed to form a united front against criminal elements, with a particular focus on kidnapping and violent crimes. The initiative, he noted, will be proactive and community-driven.

“This initiative aims to prevent all violent and related crimes, especially kidnapping, by ensuring a safer environment for residents and visitors during this Easter period and beyond,” said SP Ikenga.
He added that Operation Udo Ga Chi is not only a show of force but also a strategic shift toward community engagement and intelligence-led policing.
“The operation shall focus on community engagement—working closely with the public to gather intelligence and prevent crimes. It is about fostering trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the community,” he stated.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, emphasized that the unified approach signals a renewed commitment to a safer Anambra.
“By working together, the Police aim to create a safer and more secure environment for all,” CP Orutugu was quoted as saying.
‘With the Easter festivities underway, the timing of the operation underscores the security agencies’ commitment to protecting lives and property during religious celebrations and beyond.
“Security operatives are expected to intensify patrols, monitor hotspots, and act swiftly on actionable intelligence.
“Residents are urged to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities as Operation Udo Ga Chi begins full-scale deployment across the state,” he statement said.
