Presidency Disowns 2027 Campaign Billboards, Cautions Supporters Against Violation of Electoral Law
The Presidency has disowned campaign billboards surfacing in major cities, promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday, April 13, 2025, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency expressed dismay over the rising number of such billboards, particularly in Abuja and Kano.
Some of the billboards reportedly feature images of President Tinubu alongside his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
While acknowledging and appreciating the loyalty and enthusiasm of their supporters across the country, the statement emphasized that both President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima do not condone any campaign activity that contravenes the electoral laws.

“The electoral law that guides the conduct of elections and political campaigns forbids any form of campaign for the 2027 general elections,” the Presidency noted, warning that premature campaigning could “undermine the integrity of the electoral process and create unfair advantages.”
The Presidency also stressed that neither the President nor his deputy has endorsed or authorized any individual or group to launch a 2027 campaign on their behalf across any media platforms, including billboards, print, digital, radio, or television.
It urged those behind the ongoing political campaign materials to halt such activities immediately.
“President Tinubu and his deputy are fully committed to delivering the ongoing task of nation-building they have set for themselves,” the statement added, citing key focus areas such as economic revitalisation, human capital development, infrastructure, social investment, and national security.
The Presidency concluded by reaffirming that President Tinubu will make his intentions known only when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally opens the window for political activities for the 2027 elections.
