Again, CBN’s Hakama Ali is “Best Spokesperson” in Banking Sector

Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, the Head of Corporate Communications at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has once again emerged as the nation’s top banking sector spokesperson.

She clinched the “Outstanding Spokesperson (Banking Sector)” award at the “2025 National Spokespersons Awards” (NSA).

This marks her second consecutive win in the highly-competitive category, which also featured other notable nominees, including Amaechi Okobi of Access Holdings.

The award ceremony, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel on Thursday, served as the grand finale of the “2025 Nigeria Spokespersons Summit”.

The event was organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR)—publishers of PRNigeria and Spokespersons Digest.

The NSA, now in its fifth edition, celebrates excellence, innovation, and professionalism in public communication across Nigeria’s public and private sectors.

The CBN spokesperson was recognised for her proactive and strategic communication style, particularly in managing and dispelling misinformation regarding the alleged introduction of N5,000 and N10,000 banknotes.

Her timely interventions helped ease public anxiety, prevented panic withdrawals, and maintained stability in the country’s financial system.

Beyond domestic issues, Sidi Ali also earned praise for her deft handling of communications during Nigeria’s recent engagement with the United States over newly imposed tariffs.

Her ability to clearly articulate the Central Bank’s position helped defuse tensions and promote continued diplomatic dialogue between both nations.
