NAF Bombards Terrorists’ Enclaves in Sambisa Forest, Eliminate Scores
In a continued effort to neutralize terrorist threats in the Northeast, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has executed two precise and devastating airstrikes on insurgent enclaves within Borno State, dealing a major blow to the operational capacity of jihadist groups.
The targeted assaults, conducted on April 15 under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, focused on strategic locations within the notorious Sambisa forest and the Southern Tumbuns—areas long recognized as terrorist safe havens.
According to a statement released Thursday by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the first mission was launched at 5:30 a.m. in Kollaram. Surveillance intelligence had confirmed the presence of high-ranking insurgent commanders, with several makeshift shelters fitted with solar panels—an indicator of long-term habitation and operational control.

“NAF aircraft executed a precision strike on the camp, eliminating several fighters and disrupting key command nodes,” the statement said.
Later that afternoon, around 3:55 p.m., a follow-up strike was launched on another insurgent cluster in Arra, also within the Sambisa axis. Real-time intelligence had detected groups of armed militants gathering, prompting immediate action.
Using precision-guided munitions, the Air Force successfully neutralized the targets, destroying key assets and further crippling the group’s mobility and coordination.
“These back-to-back airstrikes form part of a wider, relentless aerial campaign aimed at decimating terrorist networks, disrupting leadership structures, and denying them safe haven across Nigeria’s Northeast,” the statement added.
The latest operation underscores the growing sophistication of the NAF’s intelligence-led warfare, and the commitment of the Nigerian military to rooting out insurgents from even their most concealed strongholds.
