FG Determined to End Insecurity in Benue – NSA
The Federal Government is determined to end insecurity in Benue State, the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has assured.
Ribadu gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi, following the killing of over 70 persons in Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas on Good Friday.
Describing the killings as a national tragedy, Ribadu said, “It was evil that visited the state.”
He emphasized that the Tinubu administration inherited a deeply troubled nation and is working diligently to repair the damage.
Ribadu stated that President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that Benue is not alone in its current security challenges, noting that the entire country is grappling with similar issues.
He assured the people of Benue that the country stands with them and that the President is committed to solving the problem.

The NSA also acknowledged the efforts of the armed forces and security agencies, saying they are doing their best to contain the situation. However, he noted that deploying personnel to every hamlet is impossible, and the government is working to address the underlying issues.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, in his remarks, described the situation as a sober moment for the state, saying Benue has been under siege with immense loss of lives since 2011. He lamented that killings by terrorists, bandits, and militias have devastated the state’s economy and displaced many people.
The governor appreciated the President’s support and expressed hope that more help is on the way. He noted that the state has 17 IDP camps and that it has been difficult to return people to their ancestral homes.
Ribadu’s assurance comes as a relief to the people of Benue, who have been living in fear of attacks. The FG’s commitment to ending insecurity in the state is a step in the right direction, and it remains to be seen how this will be achieved.
