Two policemen, Corporal Abdullahi Ibrahim and Sergeant Yahaya Saidu, sustained injuries in the gunfight, while Baba-Beru was critically wounded. All were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where the suspect was confirmed dead during treatment. The injured officers were treated and later discharged.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the development in a statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, noted that investigations are underway and efforts are being intensified to apprehend fleeing members of the gang.
“The Command commends the bravery and swift response of the officers involved. We assure the public that we remain resolute in our commitment to rid Kano of violent criminals,” the statement read.
CP Bakori further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, stressing that community support is vital in combating crime.
