NSCDC Boss Orders Detention of Officers Accused of N5.2m Extortion
The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has ordered the immediate detention of officers accused of extorting N5.2 million from travelers.
The detention follows an investigation order by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, into the alleged extortion.
According to a statement by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, the officers will be transported to the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
The NSCDC management has assured that anyone found guilty will face the full weight of the law.

The Minister of Interior had ordered a probe into the allegations, stating that any officer found guilty would face disciplinary action.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the ministry would not tolerate any form of misconduct from security agencies, adding that the NSCDC would be built into a disciplined and professional paramilitary that serves Nigeria and Nigerians with dignity and patriotism.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC CG, has assured Nigerians that the corps will not shield anyone found culpable of corrupt practices or any form of compromise.
He urged the public not to be deterred in relating with the corps by providing necessary information that will eradicate harassment or extortion of citizens.
