Zamfara Residents Applaud NAF for Compensating Airstrike Victims

Residents of Zamfara State have expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for keeping its promises to victims of an airstrike that occurred in Dangebe Village in January 2025.

The NAF had pledged to provide financial support to families of the deceased, reconstruct damaged buildings, replace destroyed motorcycles, and construct a borehole in nearby Kambarawa Village.

In a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the NAF has fulfilled all its promises.

“The reconstruction of the damaged building has been completed, two brand-new motorcycles have been handed over to their rightful owners, and the promised borehole has been successfully drilled and is now serving Kambarawa Village and surrounding settlements.

Recall that the NAF’s Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, had visited the affected community in March 2025, where he met with survivors, bereaved families, and members of the community.

He said during the visit, he acknowledged the pain and disruption caused by the incident and pledged to take concrete steps to ease the suffering of those affected.

“The affected families and community members have praised the NAF for its sincerity, compassion, and prompt fulfillment of promises. The NAF’s actions reflect its values of professionalism, responsibility, and respect for human dignity.

“The NAF has reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in all its operations and minimizing civilian harm.

“The Service remains dedicated to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians and promoting enduring civil-military relations,” the statement said.
