He rose through the ranks to become a two-term Chairman of the Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and later held national roles, including Head of Strategic Communication at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission in the Presidency, Abuja, and Head of the Information Division at the National Examinations Council (NECO), Minna.

He joined Bayero University in 2015 and has since contributed immensely to institutional communication strategies, public engagement, and the promotion of the university’s initiatives and image.

An alumnus of BUK, Garba holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the institution and is currently pursuing a PhD in the same field.

He is an active member of several professional bodies including the NUJ, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), African Public Relations Association (APRA), Association of Communication Scholars and Practitioners of Nigeria (ACSPN), and the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE).
