Bauchi: Two in Police Net Over Human Trafficking, Raping of Minor
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with separate disturbing cases involving human trafficking and sexual assault of a minor.
The Public Relations Officer of Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this information in a press statement made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, “On April 19, 2025, a 40-year-old woman, Rhoda Cosmos, reported at the ‘E’ Division Police Headquarters in Yelwa that her 19-year-old daughter, Cecelia Cosmos, had been deceitfully taken out of the country. Investigations revealed that on April 12, Cecelia was lured by 26-year-old Johnson John of Gwallameji under the pretext of securing a job in Lagos. However, she was handed over to an unidentified woman known only as “Mama,” who then trafficked her to Burkina Faso for prostitution.

During interrogation, Johnson John reportedly confessed to the crime. The Command has constituted a team of experienced investigators to dig deeper into the matter. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further evidence gathering, and suspects will be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.”
In a separate case reported on April 24, Patience Danladi, a 36-year-old resident of Tambari Housing Estate, alerted authorities to suspicious behaviour exhibited by her 9-year-old niece, Grace (not her real name). Further inquiries uncovered that the child had allegedly been sexually abused by her mother’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Alex Amusu of Yelwan Tsakani.
Police operatives quickly swung into action and arrested the suspect, who allegedly confessed during interrogation. The victim is currently receiving medical attention at Bayara General Hospital.
The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that justice will be served. The suspects will be charged to court once all procedures are concluded.
