Police Confirm Multiple Abductions Across Kwara Communities, 2 Captives Rescued

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a fresh wave of abductions at Eleyinla village, near Isanlu-Isin, in Kwara South Senatorial District.

The incident occurred around 5:45 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, when about five armed men reportedly blocked the highway, intercepted two private vehicles, and forcibly whisked away the occupants to an unknown destination.

This marks the third kidnapping incident in the area within a week. On Thursday, several individuals were abducted along the Ilofa-Omu Aran highway, and days earlier, seven passengers travelling from Abuja to Offa were kidnapped alongside their driver aboard an Olumoh Express bus at the Obbo Ayegunle axis.

In a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said a swift rescue operation involving police operatives, soldiers, and vigilante groups led to the successful rescue of two victims identified as Ganiyu Ajayi and Kolawole Adeyemi.

Efforts, she noted, are ongoing to locate and free the remaining five victims and to apprehend the abductors.

Meanwhile, security presence has been beefed up across the region with intensified bush combing, strategic patrols, and intelligence-led operations aimed at forestalling further attacks.

The police urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, and to provide timely information that could aid security efforts. They assured the public that all measures were being taken to safeguard lives and property, promising to issue updates as developments unfold.
