Nigerian Army Cautions Public Against Uniform Impersonation
The Nigerian Army has warned the public against impersonating military personnel by wearing military uniforms, citing serious security risks.
Major General Gold Chibuisi, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, made the call during a media briefing in Abuja.
“There are many criminals disguising themselves in military attire to commit crimes,” Chibuisi said. “If everyone dresses like a soldier, how can we distinguish the real ones from impostors?”
He urged both the media and the public to support awareness efforts and ensure that offenders are arrested and prosecuted lawfully, rather than being subjected to extrajudicial actions.
He called on Nigerians to see the Nigerian Army as an integral part of society rather than a detached force.
