The Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Reverend Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, has lauded the Nigerian Army College of Environmental Sciences and Technology (NACEST), Makurdi, for its commitment to fostering professionalism and moral development among its students.

This was disclosed by the Spokesperson of NACEST, Major Yahaya Arama Ibrahim
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the College’s 20th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session, held at the NACEST Auditorium in Makurdi, Dr. Ikyaan described the institution as a beacon of excellence, known for producing highly skilled and ethically sound graduates.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Education in uplifting educational standards across the country. Highlighting recent achievements in Benue State, the Commissioner disclosed that the state government has approved the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering at Benue State University, the University of Agriculture and Technology, and new technical colleges across the state. Earlier in his remarks, the Acting Rector of NACEST, Brigadier General Solomon Inuwa, congratulated the new students and reaffirmed the College’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline and examination malpractice. He emphasized NACEST’s commitment to nurturing the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor domains of learning, with a strong focus on self-discipline as a key to personal and academic success.

General Inuwa announced that all nine academic programmes recently submitted for accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) were approved. Additionally, eight new Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes have received the green light to commence.

The Acting Rector expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his unwavering support, which was instrumental in the institution’s recent accreditation successes. He also thanked Major General A.P. Oguntola, now Corps Commander Education, and the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Institute of Education, Science and Technology (NAISET), Ilorin, for their continued support.

Dignitaries at the event included the Ter of Makurdi, His Royal Highness Chief Vincent Aule; Colonel F.M.O. Aboiye representing the Commander of 401 SF Brigade; Dr. Titus Isah Lemu of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB); Dr. Sarah Adanyi of the Industrial Training Fund; community leaders, academic staff, and other invited guests.
