Plateau Attacks: Police Arrest Additional Suspects, Gunrunners
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the arrest of three more suspects in connection with the recent spate of killings in Plateau State, underscoring its resolve to crack down on criminal elements fueling unrest in the region.
According to a press release issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on May 5, the arrests were made by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) during a series of operations targeting gunrunners and those involved in criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.

One of the suspects, identified as Abubakar Jibrin from Kalone Community in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State, was arrested on May 3, 2025, at about 4:30 PM. Acting on credible intelligence, IRT operatives discovered an SMG rifle with an empty magazine at his residence following his confession.
In a separate operation on May 4, 2025, police operatives recovered two locally fabricated revolver rifles in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State. The weapons were traced back to Ismail Danjuma, another suspect currently in custody, who is reportedly assisting with investigations into the killings.
“These recent operations demonstrate the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to diligently ensuring every person complicit in these condemnable killings is brought to justice and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement emphasized.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has called on residents to remain calm and continue supporting the police with timely information that could aid ongoing efforts to restore peace in Plateau and other troubled parts of the country.
