Customs College Graduates 50 Junior Officers

In a bid to strengthen its middle-level management cadre, the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC) in Gwagwalada has graduated 50 officers from Junior Course 21, following a rigorous three-month training programme.

The graduation, which marks another milestone in the Nigeria Customs Service’s human capital development efforts, culminated in a ceremony held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the College’s Ahmad Makarfi Hall. A regimental dinner preceded the event on April 30.

Representing the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, at both events was Deputy Comptroller-General Suleiman Chiroma, who oversees the Service’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).

In his remarks, DCG Chiroma praised the officers for their dedication and urged them to uphold the core values of discipline, professionalism, and integrity in their future roles. “The College has equipped you with the requisite knowledge for higher staff and command responsibilities. Your value to the Service and your fatherland has been greatly enhanced,” he stated.

Commandant of the College, Assistant Comptroller-General Oluyomi Adebakin, also addressed the graduates, reiterating the institution’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and mediocrity. She emphasized the importance of applying the training received to real-life operational challenges across commands and formations.

“You must make the most of this opportunity. The Nigeria Customs Service has invested significantly in your development, and excellence is the standard we expect,” ACG Adebakin said.

The graduation ceremony featured the presentation of certificates and the conferment of the Passed Junior Staff Course (PJSC) qualification. Graduates expressed gratitude for the transformative experience, citing gains in leadership, strategic thinking, and operational skills.

The 50 newly graduated officers are expected to take on key responsibilities that will enhance the operational efficiency and strategic outlook of the Nigeria Customs Service nationwide.
