Terrorists’ Collaborator Nabbed as Insurgents Family Members Surrender to Nigerian Troops in Borno

In a continued show of progress in the counter-insurgency campaign across Borno State, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kukawa Local Government Area and received the surrender of 10 family members of insurgents in Damboa, PRNigeria learnt.

Military intelligence sources confirmed to Zagazola that troops of Sector 3 Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in conjunction with the Military Intelligence Battalion (MIB) and hybrid forces, apprehended the suspected logistics supplier during an intelligence-led operation in Baga town on May 5.

Items recovered from the suspect include a mobile phone, the sum of ₦335,000, and other sundry materials. The individual is currently undergoing interrogation and further investigation to determine the extent of his involvement in terrorist activities.

In a related development, troops of the 25 Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, and operating within the framework of Operation Desert Sanity, received the voluntary surrender of 10 family members of insurgents in Damboa town. The group comprises five women and five children.

According to military sources, the surrender is a direct result of sustained ground and aerial operations that have intensified pressure on terrorist hideouts, forcing many to flee or turn themselves in.

The surrendered individuals are currently in military custody where they are being profiled and undergoing necessary administrative procedures in line with security protocols.

Security officials have called on the public to remain vigilant and to continue providing credible and timely information that can aid ongoing operations in the northeast.

“These recent successes reflect the growing effectiveness of coordinated military pressure, intelligence gathering, and community support in the fight against insurgency,” a security source said.
