Troops Arrest Four Terror Suspects in Taraba, Recover Weapons

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have arrested four suspected terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons in Taraba State.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army in a statement said the swift operation is in response to intelligence on suspicious movements.

The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, May 7, in the Tau area of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area during a raid by soldiers under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke.

Military sources said the operation was prompted by a distress call regarding the presence of armed individuals in the community.

Three of the four suspects were reportedly found with weapons, including two pump-action rifles, a locally fabricated firearm, and 42 live cartridges. Other items recovered included three cutlasses, four mobile phones, and a national identity card.

Sources familiar with the operation disclosed that preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have been invited into the area by a man identified as Alhaji Ardo Sani, whose role in the incident is currently under scrutiny.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their prompt response and operational discipline. He reiterated the military’s resolve to tackle insecurity in the state and restore public confidence.

“This operation demonstrates our troops’ vigilance and responsiveness to emerging threats,” said Captain Olubodunde Oni,

“We urge members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information.”
