Badaru Hails Troops Securing Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has praised the Nigerian Army for its role in securing the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project, describing the road as a strategic pillar in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Badaru, who made the commendation during an operational visit to Kebbi State on Friday, met with troops stationed at the Forward Operations Base Laager, charged with protecting the highway construction site.
Speaking to the soldiers, the minister emphasized the critical national importance of the road project, which connects the northwestern border town of Illela through Sokoto to Badagry in Lagos State.
“This project is a game-changer for travelers, particularly those commuting between Sokoto and Lagos. It will stimulate the economy by creating numerous jobs and economic opportunities,” he said.

“You understand the importance of this road and the critical nature of your mission. That is why the President has entrusted me with the responsibility of visiting you to personally express our appreciation for the exceptional work you are doing,” he said.
The visit, according to the Ministry, was part of the Minister’s ongoing tour to evaluate military operations in regions linked to key national projects.
