1,622 Nigerian Pilgrims Depart for 2025 Hajj Exercise, Says NAHCON

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced that a total of 1,622 Nigerian pilgrims have departed for Madinah, Saudi Arabia, marking the commencement of the 2025 Hajj exercise.

The inaugural flight was officially flagged off by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

According to Shafii Mohammed, NAHCON’s Principal Information Officer, the pilgrims were transported via four separate flights operated by three designated carriers: MaxAir, Flynas, and Air Peace.

The breakdown of the flights is as follows:

MaxAir flight VM3001 departed from Bauchi at 11:53 a.m. with 539 pilgrims and six officials.

Flynas flight XY8066 left Kebbi at 6:29 p.m. with 420 pilgrims and one official.

Air Peace flight APK 7900, which kicked off the inaugural operations, departed from Owerri at 7:36 p.m. with 240 pilgrims and four officials.

Flynas flight XY8016 departed Lagos at 7:39 p.m., carrying 423 pilgrims from Osun State.

The Hajj Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and safe pilgrimage for all Nigerian participants in this year’s holy exercise.
