Lagos Police Arrest 3 Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearms

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three suspected cultists during a covert raid on an alleged cult meeting in the Elemoro area of the state.

The suspects — identified as Christopher Amah (28), Bada Olusesi (38), and Magaji Yusuf (34) — were arrested by police operatives who acted on credible intelligence while on routine patrol on April 26, 2025. Approximately fifteen individuals were reportedly attending the gathering, but others fled the scene upon the officers’ arrival.

During a search of the arrested suspects, police recovered two firearms: a defaced Beretta pistol and a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge.

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday. He added that efforts were underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing members of the group.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling cultism and criminality across the state.

“Under my leadership, there will be no safe haven for cultists or any criminal elements in Lagos,” CP Jimoh warned, pledging continued efforts to dismantle such groups and ensure public safety.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
