Zulum Condemns Terror Attacks, Mourns Victims
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned the recent wave of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across several communities in the state.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum expressed deep sympathy to the families of victims affected by the renewed violence, including those who lost their lives in a deadly explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Maiduguri-Damboa Road on May 12.
The IED explosion claimed the lives of two staff members of the Damboa Local Education Authority who were en route to Maiduguri to sit for the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) examination. Several military personnel and civilians have also been killed in recent attacks targeting areas such as Marte, Chibok, Gwoza, Kala Balge, and the Maiduguri-Damboa highway.

The governor reaffirmed the Borno State government’s commitment to working collaboratively with the Federal Government, military, and other security agencies to address the lingering security crisis in the region.
“I am more determined than ever to support our armed forces, security agencies, and volunteer groups in the ongoing fight to end terrorism and restore peace to our communities,” he added.
Governor Zulum also referenced his recent visit to Gwoza, where he met with military personnel and engaged with the Izge community as part of broader efforts to boost local resilience and strengthen security.
He urged residents of Borno to remain hopeful and steadfast amid the adversity. “The recent surge in attacks will not weaken our resolve. I encourage our people to stay resilient and prayerful. This is only a partial eclipse—we shall overcome it, Insha Allah,” he said.
Zulum extended his condolences and prayers to the families of fallen soldiers, civilian victims, and all citizens affected by the ongoing insurgency.
