Customs Intercepts Explosives at Seme Border, Arrests Suspect
Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intercepted a consignment of suspected explosive materials, including corrosive mercury, ingeniously concealed inside five cartons of the Holy Quran at the Seme border.
The seizure was announced on Wednesday by the Customs Area Controller of the Seme Command, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, who revealed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the illicit cargo.
According to Dr. Oramalugo, the explosives were being transported in a red Toyota Avensis with Lagos registration number GGE 66 JN. The vehicle was intercepted along the Badagry–Lagos Expressway during routine checks conducted by Customs officers.
