Nasarawa Varsity Visits IMPR, Deepens Academic Partnership
The management team from the Department of Public Relations, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), on Friday paid a courtesy visit to Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, and other titles, to strengthen collaboration in promoting students’ academic excellence.
The visiting team, led by the Head of Department, Dr. Anthony Ogande, and Senior Lecturer, Mrs. Zainab Yusuf Anzaku, was received at PRNigeria’s Abuja headquarters. This marks the department’s second official visit, aimed at streamlining and formalizing areas of partnership with the organization.
Key components of the proposed collaboration include the establishment of an endowment fund for the Best PhD Thesis in Public Relations, annual awards for outstanding undergraduate students in science journalism and PR copywriting, sponsorship of guest lectures on best PR practices, and the introduction of an industry-immersion internship program for students.

During the visit, Dr. Ogande presented the maiden edition of the department’s quarterly newsletter, Interaction, to IMPR’s management. He noted that the publication was developed to support effective communication, highlight institutional developments, and reflect trends in digital communication within the university.
He also informed the IMPR management that the department recently underwent a resource verification exercise by the National Universities Commission (NUC), adding that full accreditation is expected by 2027, subject to meeting the required standards.
Dr. Ogande further conveyed the appreciation of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, and expressed her enthusiasm for a sustained and impactful partnership with IMPR.
Responding on behalf of the CEO, Alhaji Yushau Shuaib, Assistant Editor Zekeri Idakwo Laruba thanked the visitors for their faith in the organization and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the university. He announced that IMPR is officially open to receiving NSUK students for internships and pledged a stipend for the best-performing student in Public Relations.
The relationship between NSUK’s Department of Public Relations and IMPR dates back to November last year, when Dr. Ogande and his colleague visited following the department’s upgrade from a unit under Mass Communication to a standalone academic program under the newly established Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.
