FFK Commends Tinubu’s Historic Appearance at Pope’s Inaugural Mass in Rome
A former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for attending the inaugural mass of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in Rome, describing the gesture as a proud and symbolic moment for Nigeria.
According to PRNigeria, President Tinubu made history on Sunday by becoming the first sitting Nigerian President or Head of State to attend the inaugural mass of a new Pope at the Vatican. The visit, widely regarded as a landmark diplomatic and interfaith gesture, featured a warm handshake between Tinubu, a devout Muslim, and Pope Leo XIV, the newly installed spiritual leader of the Catholic Church.

In a post on his verified social media platforms, Fani-Kayode lauded the significance of the event.
“Our very own President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT), who is a Muslim, in a warm handshake with the spiritual leader and father of the Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at his inaugural mass in Rome,” he wrote.
“This is the first time in our country’s history that a sitting President or Head of State has attended the inaugural mass of a new Pope. Surely, there can be no greater expression of religious tolerance, mutual respect and bridge-building than this.”
