Anambra Police Thwart Kidnap Attempt, Recover Victim’s Vehicle

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have foiled a kidnap attempt and recovered a vehicle belonging to the intended victim, following swift and coordinated action.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday in Awka.

Ikenga said the incident took place on May 17 at Isuaniocha, in Awka North Local Government Area, and was swiftly addressed by officers of the Anti-Cultism Squad based in Enugu-Ukwu, Njikoka LGA.

According to him, the suspected kidnappers, who were operating in a black Toyota Corolla, intercepted and attempted to abduct their target at Amatu village in Agulu, Anaocha LGA.

”The victims was abducted in his black Lexus 350 SUV before the police were alerted.”

The operatives in technology-driven manhunt on the criminals made them to abandon the victim and the vehicle on the road at Isuaniocha and fled.

He said that the victim had been debriefed and in safe custody.

The police spokesperson said that the operatives are currently working on the information available to dislodge the kidnapping gang.

“The police have also stepped up security surveillance in the area for possible arrest of the suspects,” he said.
