NCoS Unveils Identity of Osun Fleeing Inmates, Offers N5m Reward for Information

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has announced a cash reward of N5 million for anyone who provides credible information that leads to the recapture of inmates who recently escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State.

This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the NCoS Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller of Corrections Umar Abubakar. He called on the general public to assist security agencies by reporting any useful information on the whereabouts of the fleeing inmates.

The Service emphasized that all tips will be treated with strict confidentiality, and informants’ identities will be kept anonymous.

“To encourage public cooperation, the Nigerian Correctional Service is offering a reward of N5 million to anyone who provides actionable information leading to the re-arrest of the escaped inmates from Ilesa Custodial Centre,” the statement read.

Members of the public with relevant information are advised to contact the NCoS through any of the following channels:

Email: [email protected] or [email protected]

Phone: 07087086005, 09060004598, 08075050006

The jailbreak occurred in the early hours of Tuesday following a heavy overnight downpour which caused the facility’s aging perimeter wall to collapse, enabling seven inmates to escape.

The NCoS confirmed that the incident happened around 2:00 a.m. due to structural failure triggered by the storm.

Efforts to rearrest the escapees are ongoing. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies in ensuring their swift capture.
