13 Terrorists Logistics Suppliers Arrested with IED Materials in Borno, Yobe – DHQ

The Armed Forces of Nigeria has arrested 13 suspected logistics suppliers for terrorists in a major breakthrough aimed at dismantling the operational backbone of insurgent groups in the North-East.

A statement released today by Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the arrests were made between 15 and 19 May 2025 during coordinated operations in Monguno and Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, as well as Monguno LGA in Borno State and Damaturu LGA in Yobe State.

Among the items recovered from the suspects were materials used in manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), cylinders filled with nitrogen, motorcycle spare parts, and the sum of N106,000.

The suspects are believed to have been key logistics providers to fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS).

“These arrests are part of our renewed counterterrorism strategy, which not only targets insurgents on the frontlines but also cuts off their supply chains,” General Kangye stated.

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing preliminary investigations before being handed over to relevant agencies for prosecution.

The military assured Nigerians of its continued commitment to ending terrorism and restoring normalcy to the North-East and other troubled regions.
