Allegation of Booing Senator Shehu Buba is False and Malicious – Aide

An aide to the Senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Buba, has dismissed reports claiming that the lawmaker was booed during a recent condolence visit to Toro Local Government Area, describing the allegations as false, baseless, and concocted to mislead the public.

Speaking to journalists in Bauchi, Ibrahim Ori, an aide who accompanied the senator on the visit, stated that there was no incident of hostility during or after the engagement. He insisted that the report was fabricated to tarnish the senator’s image.

“Our attention was drawn to a media publication alleging that Senator Shehu Buba was booed for alleged neglect. That report is completely untrue,” Ori said. “Even the writer used the word ‘alleged’ repeatedly in nearly every paragraph. If a journalist is unsure of facts, the professional thing to do is to drop the story altogether.”

He expressed concern over what he termed a deliberate attempt to misinform the public, stating: “We do not know the motive behind such speculative and mischievous reporting.”

Setting the record straight, Ori noted that Senator Buba had paid a peaceful condolence visit to the community and made a significant financial donation totaling ₦65 million. According to him, ₦50 million was allocated for the construction of a mosque, ₦5 million to the family of the deceased, ₦5 million to community elders, and ₦5 million to youth groups.

“The visit ended peacefully. If any incident occurred after his departure, it should not be attributed to him,” Ori clarified.

He further emphasized the importance of journalistic integrity, especially during a period of national insecurity and economic hardship.

“Journalists play a central role in national development. Their work should be guided by truth, objectivity, and professionalism,” he said. “Unfortunately, some individuals appear determined to concoct stories to serve malicious agendas.”

Ori reaffirmed Senator Buba’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective representation for the people of Bauchi South and the entire Bauchi State.
