Children’s Day: Kwara Gov Pledges to Boost Education, Healthcare, Child Protection

As Nigeria marked the 2025 Children’s Day celebration on Tuesday, Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children through increased investment in education, healthcare, and protective policies.

In a statement personally signed to commemorate the occasion, Governor AbdulRazaq said the state remains dedicated to creating an enabling environment that allows every child to thrive.

“As we commemorate Children’s Day across Nigeria, I recommit myself to everything that gives the Kwara child a head-start in life,” he said. “Every child deserves to live and prosper in dignity — and this depends on all of us that they look up to.”

The governor emphasized ongoing state interventions, such as investments in basic education and healthcare, enforcement of child protection laws, six-month paid maternity leave for mothers, and anti-child hawking policies.

He said these efforts align with the 2025 theme, “Stand up, speak up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation.”

“We have enacted the Violence Against Persons Law to protect every Kwaran, including children, from any form of abuse. Our KwaraLEARN initiative ensures we stay connected to classrooms across the state, providing real-time learning support,” AbdulRazaq stated.

He also highlighted significant milestones, including a drop in the under-five mortality rate, which he noted is now the lowest in the country, and the recent establishment of an education trust fund to further support learning outcomes.

“Our children today have direct access to top education officials in the state, and we are proud of how they are excelling among their peers nationwide. These outcomes validate our multi-sectoral investments in their wellbeing.”

Governor AbdulRazaq called for collective responsibility from all stakeholders to safeguard the rights and future of every child in the state and across Nigeria.
