NAHCON Completes Airlifts of 41,568 Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has successfully completed the outbound airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj exercise, airlifting a total of 41,568 pilgrims on 105 flights.

Addressing journalists at the Hajj Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja before his departure for the Holy Land, NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, described the operation as a major milestone that reflects the improved coordination and efficiency of the Hajj process in Nigeria.

“Despite the challenges we encountered, we have concluded the outbound airlift for the 2025 Hajj. This is a proud and significant moment,” he said.

Prof. Usman credited the success to teamwork, careful planning, and divine guidance. He also expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their unwavering support, which he said provided the Commission with the necessary backing to deliver a seamless operation.

He noted that all state quotas were fully covered, with each pilgrim airlifted within the official schedule. “It wasn’t easy, but we overcame all odds. Our goal has always been to ensure that every Nigerian pilgrim travels safely and is well taken care of,” the NAHCON boss emphasized.

Prof. Usman also acknowledged the support of key stakeholders, including state pilgrims’ welfare boards, airlines, and media organizations, which helped in keeping the public informed throughout the operation.

As pilgrims begin their rites in the Holy Land, he called for prayers for their safety and spiritual fulfillment. “Let’s all pray for a successful Hajj for our pilgrims. We look forward to receiving them back home safe and sound, in shaa Allah,” he said.

He assured that NAHCON will continue providing support to pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia to ensure they perform their religious obligations without hitches.

“When we work together as one family, there is nothing we cannot achieve,” Prof. Usman concluded.
