Lagos Police Tighten Security Measures Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations
In a bid to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Lagos State Police Command has intensified surveillance and deployed special tactical teams across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, directed the immediate deployment of personnel from the Rapid Response Squad, EKO STRIKE FORCE, and other tactical units to strategic locations, black spots, criminal hideouts, and flashpoints. The aim is to bolster public confidence and remove fear of crime during the festivities and beyond.
This is disclosed in a statement by state police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
To guarantee the safety of Muslim faithful and other residents participating in Sallah activities, the Command has also stationed officers from the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Intelligence Department, Anti-Bomb Squad, and conventional units at Eid prayer grounds, mosques, recreational centres, and other public gathering venues. Armoured personnel carriers and patrol teams are also being mobilised for enhanced visibility and swift response.
CP Jimoh stressed that priority is being given to traffic management, crowd control, and ease of movement across Lagos. Additional proactive security measures are being implemented to prevent crimes, ensure timely response to threats, and maintain public order throughout the celebrations.
