ACF Slams Tinubu’s Administration for Prioritising 2027 Campaign Over National Crises
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for focussing more on grooming party defections and positioning for the 2027 elections than tackling Nigeria’s pressing security and economic challenges.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Muhammad Baba, the Forum lamented that public policy responses—especially in the country’s restive northern region—have been largely ineffective. Meanwhile, reckless government spending starkly contrasts with the sacrifices of ordinary Nigerians, who continue to grapple with rising inflation and deteriorating living standards.

Highlighting extreme examples of waste, the ACF pointed to recent revelations in the 2025 federal budget that allocate over ₦260 million for each streetlight installation—an expenditure so extravagant it has yet to be officially denied. “Such surreal budget insertions demonstrate the insensitivity of our leaders to the plight of everyday citizens,” the statement read.
The Forum warned that delusions of security progress, trumpeted by some federal officials, clash with the grim realities faced by state governors on the ground. These disconnects, the ACF argued, risk fuelling public disillusionment, despair and unrest.
Despite these challenges, the ACF praised Nigerians’ resilience—exemplified by their ability to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir amid economic hardship—and insisted that genuine recovery hinges on instilling principles of good governance at all levels of government.
