Third Estate Hails A.U. Mustapha’s Appointment as Chair of National Sports Commission Election Appeals Committee

The Third Estate of the Ilorin Emirate has commended the appointment of renowned legal luminary, Mallam A.U. Mustapha, SAN, as Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Election Appeals Committee, describing the development as a significant honour for the Ilorin community and Nigeria at large.

In a congratulatory message, the President of the Third Estate, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, extended heartfelt felicitations to Mustapha, praising his distinguished track record and the values he embodies.

According to a statement issued by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Mallam Nasir Abdulquadri, the organization noted that they see in Mallam A.U. Mustapha a shining reflection of the ideals they cherish: excellence, integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to justice. His appointment, they emphasized, is a reaffirmation that character still counts in leadership. It is a moment of pride not just for his family, but for Ilorin, Kwara State, and indeed, the nation.

The statement expressed optimism that Mustapha’s leadership of the committee would usher in a process marked by fairness, transparency, and professionalism—qualities vital to strengthening institutional credibility in sports administration.

The appointment, formally announced by Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Ajayi, Director of Sports at the NSC, acknowledges Mustapha’s wealth of experience, legal acumen, and national stature.

The 60-year-old Senior Advocate of Nigeria will lead a five-member committee of distinguished professionals, including Barrister Chris Umar, SAN, former Solicitor-General of Kaduna State; Barrister Owoicho Adejo-Ogiri, an international sports law expert; Mrs. Prisca Ngozi Udoka, SAN, a prominent Abuja-based legal practitioner; and Mr. Lateef Olatunji Surakatu, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), who will serve as Secretary.

Mallam Mustapha’s elevation to this national role continues a family legacy of public service, following the footsteps of his late father, Alhaji Uthman Mustapha, the revered Wali of Ilorin Emirate, who was also a noted sports enthusiast and community leader.

The Third Estate expressed confidence that his tenure would not only uphold the highest standards of justice but also serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.
