Troops Eliminate Top ISWAP Commander, Malam Jidda, Recover Weapons in Northeast
Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have intensified their counterterrorism operations in the North-East, eliminating a notorious terrorist leader and recovering a cache of weapons in a series of coordinated assaults across Yobe and Borno States, PRNigeria learnt.
Reliable sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that in a recent special operation at Ngazalgana village, located in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, troops engaged and neutralised Malam Jidda, a top commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP). Jidda was identified as the Ameer (leader) of Ngorgore and Malumti villages, both known terrorist strongholds.
During the operation, troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the terrorists for mobility and attacks.

In a separate encounter along the volatile Timbuktu Triangle axis, a snap ambush team deployed by the military confronted ISWAP fighters in a swift and decisive engagement. Multiple terrorists were neutralised, while troops seized additional AK-47 rifles and other categories of military ordnance.
Similarly, along the Abadam axis in northern Borno, troops conducting mop-up operations in Mallamfatori, following a recent battle, discovered more bodies of terrorists and recovered abandoned weapons. According to a military source, the terrorists fled in disarray, leaving behind arms of various calibres after coming under intense fire from the advancing troops.
The military’s ongoing offensives are part of a broader strategy to dismantle terrorist enclaves, cut off supply routes, and restore lasting peace to communities ravaged by over a decade of insurgency.
The Nigerian Armed Forces have vowed to sustain the tempo of operations until total victory is achieved in the region.
