Ukraine Receives 1,200 Fallen Soldiers’ Bodies from Russia
Ukraine on Friday received the remains of 1,200 fallen soldiers from Russia,, amid continued Russian drone strikes across eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian officials confirmed.
The latest handover, coordinated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, marked the second such exchange this week, according to Ukraine’s office for prisoner of war affairs.
PRNigeria gathered that earlier on Wednesday, Ukraine had recovered 1,212 bodies of its soldiers and returned 27 Russian soldiers’ remains as part of the ongoing repatriation process.
The transfers stem from an agreement reached during direct negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow in Istanbul earlier this month.

Under the deal, more than 6,000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers are to be returned by Russia. Officials said last weekend’s planned exchange was delayed due to logistical and coordination issues between the two sides.
The recovery operation unfolded as Ukraine faced yet another barrage of Russian drone attacks overnight.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that combat drones targeted multiple areas in the eastern regions of Sumy and Donetsk.
Authorities issued air raid alerts throughout the night as defense systems engaged the incoming threats.
Ukraine has been battling Russia’s full-scale invasion for over three years, with frontline fighting and aerial assaults continuing to claim military and civilian casualties on both sides.
